She missed the first semester of her senior year as her treatments were administered in Denver, 150 miles from her home. She maintained a 3.3 GPA and graduated with her class in May. She attended the first part of the second semester of school wearing a stocking cap as she had lost her hair because of the chemotherapy. Tyra participated in choir, sports, and cheerleading. Nathan was a key player on his high school soccer team. He was active in student council and an Eagle Scout. One of the drugs that he received during treatment can cause him to develop complications for up to 20 years after completion of chemotherapy. Because of this he needs to have an EKG and Echo cardiogram every three years. He also needs to refrain from any weight lifting as this may cause undue strain to his heart. Nathan will continue his education in Hastings, NE and will major in veterinary science.

Julia Kokes is a survivor of leukemia. Julia was given a $1,000 scholarship in memory of Dani Stell.
